I wanted to return to The English language again. I want to talk about Contractions. No, not the type that woman have during labor!
Contractions, along with an Apostrophe are used to shorten words.
In a world where everything seems to be abbreviated for our convenience to save time, unfortunately, even our language has fallen victim. Myself, I just feel that it is due to laziness, we cannot be bothered to write out the entire word.
Here are some examples:
it's it is
isn't is not
don't do not
haven't have not
you're you are
There are many many more that I could give. I just wanted to give you an idea.

GREAT NEWS! I am a featured author in this week's edition of Bookworks. The online magazine that helps all of us Indie authors get recognized, promote our books and generally pat us on the back. It is also a sister company within Publishers Weekly - THE book review magazine. I have been selected out of thousands of fellow authors. I feel very honored and...........EXCITED!!!! Check it out at bookworks.com.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to my fellow book worms! You know how I enjoy the English Language, well I found a figure of speech that I had not heard of; HOMONYMN- what is it?
A Homonymn is a word that has two completely different meanings. Here are a few examples to give you an idea:
Tire: a rubber wheel to become exhausted
Fire: smoke and flames to lose one's job
Lead: to show the way a heavy metal
Bear: an animal to carry a burden
Tear: eye fluid to rip apart
Fine: not coarse a monetary penalty
File : to arrange alphabetically a tool to smoothen a surface
I often sit reading through my Thesaurus. What a wonderful tool, there is so much information in there, not only can you expand your vocabulary, learn the meaning of words, find alternate words for a particular word, you can also learn about figures of speech. The Engish language is complex! A dictionary doesn't always give you the information that you need.
Thesaurus is latin for "treasure house".
