I wanted to return to The English language again. I want to talk about Contractions. No, not the type that woman have during labor! Contractions, along with an Apostrophe are used to shorten words. In a world where everything seems to be abbreviated for our convenience to save time, unfortunately, even our language has fallen victim. Myself, I just feel that it is due to laziness, we cannot be bothered to write out the entire word. Here are some examples: it's it is isn't is not don't do not haven't have not you're you are can't cannot There are many many more that I could give. I just wanted to give you an idea. |
